Evaluation
When I filmed my chat show there were some difficulties I faced. One of which was setting up the equipment and getting the cameras ready with the lights. This was hard as the lights against the green screen needed to be reflected perfectly so no shadows were casted. We managed to contain this however the lights got hot quickly so we had to turn it off every now and then. Also since the script had to be changed learning the lines was a little difficult but we managed to improvise most of the script. The wires for the camera were also a difficulty as some of the cameras needed to be charged and they did get in the way so we had to be extra aware to ensure we dont trip over them. Filming most of the scenes in one take was a challenge as any verbal mistakes needed to be made perfect, making it in one take would make the chat show look more appealing and professional which was my aim. One other difficulty we faced before we actually filmed was the location we were filming in. At first we decided to film in the drama studio as it had a big space and the lighting already installed. However it was very difficult finding time slots to film in and the lights weren't working as well as I wanted them to so I had to ask our media teacher to use his room and he agreed. I was limited with space but now I could access a green screen for the background of my chat show.
An advantage was that the lighting worked well and I didn't have to adjust it a lot. it was quite easy as the chat show ran smoothly i didn't really need to keep checking, it all ran smoothly and we used our time slot efficiently. Another advantage was that the whole chat show itself was based off of the script but when it came to actually filming we used it as a back bone (brief notes) on what to talk about. This made the conversation flow easier as seen in actual chat shows where there aren't any awkward silences, this also made it easier for me to edit as I wouldn't have to keep cutting and keeping continuation up on point. Filming this was very enjoyable as it was very free flowing and enabled me to use some of my acting skills and engage with the "viewers".
Another thing that went well for me as the editing. Because i had filmed on two different cameras editing would be a task as I have never done anything like this before with two cameras. I had to since the same scene just filmed from two different angles to ensure that the continuity was on point so it would appeal to people watching at home. This is key as in real chat shows the camera doesn't just focus on one person. It goes from presenter to the guest which I had clearly shown in the final production. The editing took time as I had to download two sets of footage and then line it up accurately for the continuity to be at its best. Although it was very time consuming the editing was fun and in the end turned out pretty well in my opinion.
